Are you summer ready ?
Summer has hit it’s dawn by shining brighter and temperatures rising . While you hop out with our kids for outdoor picnics, afternoon pool sessions or any other activities you’ll need to pay close attention to a few health aspects. We have the top picks that would lead you to a Happy Summer!
1. Stay Hydrated
We all are aware how important it is to stay hydrated but the unanswered question remains, “How do we increase our water intake and levels ?” We all can resonate to us or our kids sensing “feel like munching something”. Before munching on the quickest item, you may grab a glass of water and then strike ahead. Instead of picking the nearest source of high caloric snacks why not add water-rich foods to stay hydrated. Here, we often hear kids saying that “I don't like drinking water”, you can infuse your water with flavor by adding melon, an orange, or cucumbers, basil leaves, lemons and limes or may even pick fresh juices, coconut water etc. You may choose to keep your and your child’s water levels up in any manner as long as you are preventing dehydration from hitting you.
2. Preventive sun care
Sunscreen is not the only way that would keep you protected from the scorching heat and the damaging sun rays. You’ll have to get using caps, hats, sunglasses, the right summer fabrics / summer wear and avoid the peak sunny hours, if at all you choose to go out you should use other reflective surfaces that would keep you blocked from the damaging rays to a certain level.
3. Avoid certain foods
You can always choose to avoid food items that require a lot of time to digest and foods that raise the body temperature too. Eating oily, spicy food items in summers would surely add to the heat generating factor in the body and may tend to damage the skin & overall health.
4. Stay away from bugs bugging you
Nothing ruins a summer vacation like getting bugged or suffering an illness from bugs, ticks or mosquitoes. Make sure you and your child use effective insect repellents and take measures from keeping away from stagnant waters, bushes and places which have been closed for a long time.
5. Keep your child active
Excessive heat tends to make people irritated. Keep your child active in the right time by choosing the suitable activity such as exercising, gardening, swimming, cycling, playing outdoors etc. The indoor timings can be used for activities like painting, art & craft, watching or sharpening their soft skills etc.
We hope you kick a happy summer!
